Coaching is different from psychotherapy and psychiatric care. Coaching is not intended to diagnose, treat, or manage psychiatric symptoms. Coaching focuses on navigating life changes, building practical skills and healthy habits, and setting and working toward personal, academic, or professional goals.
We identify what you would like to change, explore what may be getting in the way, and develop strategies to help you move forward. Coaching provides support with building confidence, developing routines and habits, managing everyday stress, making decisions, and becoming accountable to the goals you set for yourself.
Is Coaching Right for You?
Coaching is a good fit for teens, young adults, and adults looking to:
Make positive changes in their personal or professional life but aren't sure where to start
Navigate a life transition, such as starting college, beginning a new career, moving, or entering a new stage of life
Work toward personal, academic, or professional goals
Build healthier routines and habits around sleep, exercise, nutrition, time management, organization, or daily structure
Build self-esteem, confidence, or self-advocacy skills
Develop practical strategies for managing everyday stress
Improve motivation, consistency, and follow-through
Improve communication, relationships, or personal boundaries
Work through a particular problem and identify practical next steps
Receive accountability and support while making changes in their life
Coaching is not psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, or medication management. Coaching services are not billed to or covered by health insurance and are paid directly by the client. Coaching clients are not mental health patients unless they separately establish a treatment relationship through Benson Mental Health's psychiatric services.
