Your initial psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive 90-minute appointment designed to understand the full picture of your mental health and current concerns. We’ll discuss your mental health history, symptoms, past treatments, medical history, relationships, work, stressors, daily life, and goals for care. Together, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan based on your needs, which may include medication, psychotherapy-informed care, lifestyle strategies, or other appropriate recommendations.
When medication is part of your treatment plan, each decision is individualized based on your symptoms, goals, preferences, and overall health. Medication management is provided through 30-minute follow-up appointments to assess your response, make adjustments as needed, and ensure you feel supported. Side effects, safety, and long-term considerations are discussed openly at every stage of care.
Initially, appointments may be scheduled every 2–4 weeks to monitor your response and make medication adjustments as needed. Once we find the right plan for you, follow-up appointments typically transition to every 1–3 months. Scheduling always takes into account your individual needs and preferences.
I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and other practical tools to promote insight and lasting change. Together, we will explore patterns in your thoughts, behaviors, relationships, sleep, stress, and daily routines to better understand the factors affecting your mental and emotional health and identify realistic strategies to support your well-being.
Please begin by submitting an appointment request and completing the pre-appointment questions. I personally review every new patient request to determine whether my practice is the right fit for your needs.
Once your appointment is confirmed, you will be able to access and complete your new patient intake paperwork through your secure patient portal prior to your first appointment.
If I believe another provider, specialty, or level of care would better meet your needs, I will provide recommendations for appropriate next steps.
